About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Assistant County Attorney I to join our team in Brazos County. This is an exciting opportunity for a legal professional to contribute to the delivery of justice and public service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reviewing criminal cases to determine offers and preparing for and arguing criminal cases involving Brazos County, including filing appropriate paperwork.
  • Consulting with other Assistant County Attorneys, District Attorneys, and judges on legal issues, plea bargains, and disposition of cases.
  • Evaluating search and arrest warrants, performing intake functions to determine probable cause affidavit filing, and researching legal issues as requested by judges, magistrates, and the County attorney.
  • Assisting citizens with complaints and requests for information, as well as assisting with Receptionist duties, including answering and routing telephone calls, and filing criminal folders as needed.
Requirements
  • A Juris Doctor degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • A State of Texas law license is required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, defense attorneys, and judges.
  • Able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, work under time pressures, and maintain accurate records.
Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this role is between $60,000 and $80,000 per annum, depending on experience. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a range of benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
