Position Summary:

The primary responsibility of our paint technician is to mentor painters, provide ongoing feedback regarding product quality and production rates, collaborate with painters and mask washers to resolve masking issues, and maintain consistent communication with the Production Supervisor regarding all operational matters.

This position operates on the 2nd Shift.

Supervisory Duties:

  • Prepare an End of Shift Report (Written or Email) detailing daily production runs for the Production Supervisor.
  • Notify the Production Supervisor of any downtime occurring after 15 minutes.
  • Document all factors that hindered production from achieving Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) or daily scheduled goals in the End of Shift Report.
  • Participate in meetings at the Schedule Board with the Production Supervisor to discuss daily events and outline goals and concerns for the following day.
  • Provide weekly updates on action plans regarding rate improvements, material usage, and first-time yields versus quoted improvements.
  • Ensure all necessary paperwork is completed and submitted to the appropriate personnel.
  • Label all paint with APPROVED stickers and ensure all cut paint is accurately documented.
  • Perform and document all necessary maintenance while maximizing uptime.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain uptime across all scheduled production lines.
  • Ensure a continuous presence on the production floor in the Paint Area (observing, listening, training, guiding, mentoring, supervising).
  • Achieve a noticeable improvement in daily P1 effectiveness, including:
  1. Material Usage
  2. First-time yield
  3. Quoted Production Per Hour (PPH)
  4. Overall line effectiveness
Prepare thoroughly for the next day's production (ensuring paint, equipment, and any other necessary items are ready for use).Minimize time spent in the Inspection and Load Areas unless assisting the Supervisor or answering questions.Engage in problem-solving using specific tools to identify issues and achieve measurable results.

Education and Experience:

  • A High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Experience in manual painting is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Ability to consistently meet or exceed established productivity and quality standards.
