Job Summary

We are seeking a Production Associate to join our team in one of the following areas: coating, finishing, or surfacing. As a Production Associate, you will be responsible for performing various tasks, including clipping and securing lenses, preparing and operating coating machines, inspecting lenses, beveling, mounting, edging, tinting, and polishing.

Responsibilities
  • Coating Area:
    • Clipper: Clip and secure lenses into baskets to begin the coating process.
    • Machine Operator: Prepare and operate the coating machine to coat lenses properly.
    • Inspector: Inspect lenses to ensure they are optically and cosmetically accurate.
  • Finishing Area:
    • Beveler: Utilize the bevel wheel to remove sharp edges from lenses.
    • Mounter: Insert edged lenses to ensure proper fit and alignment, and insert lenses into frames while ensuring proper fit.
    • Edger Operator: Use various edging machines to cut lenses down to the proper size and shape to fit the appropriate frame.
    • Finish Layout Preparer: Ready uncut lenses for the edging process by outlining center/alignment markings and affixing the chuck/block.
    • Tinter: Accurately tint all lenses.
    • Inspector: Check lenses and frames to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Surfacing Area:
    • Surfacing Blocker: Utilize the blocking machine to accurately secure a block to all lenses going through the surfacing department. Operate taping equipment to apply protective tape to the front of the lenses.
    • Surface Finer/Polisher: Operate equipment used to fine and polish all lenses going through the surfacing department.
    • Lens Washer: Hand wash and dry lenses followed by a brief cosmetic inspection of the lenses. Grasp lenses with a de-blocking cup and strike it against the table to remove block from lenses, and also remove tape from lenses.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • High mechanical aptitude.
  • 1+ years of related work experience, such as in manufacturing; experience in lab settings is preferred but not required.
  • The ability to meet measurable standards in a dynamic production environment. Depth perception and manual dexterity.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational abilities.
  • Attention to detail.
Working Conditions

This position requires standing and walking for the duration of any shift. You will work with and around chemicals. Your work area may be wet and/or dirty and/or have a strong smell. You should be willing and able to work overtime as needed.
