Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Care: Assist clinicians with patient-oriented procedures, ensuring safe and appropriate patient care.
  • Administrative Support: Perform a broad spectrum of clerical and administrative duties related to patient care assistance.
  • Communication: Consistently exhibit behavior and communication skills that demonstrate superior customer service, including quality care and concern with internal and external customers.
  • Confidentiality: Use, protect, and disclose patients' protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards.
  • Procedure Support: Anticipate clinicians' needs and carry out orders, check for patients' arrival status, and escort patients to exam rooms and ancillary services as needed.
  • Vital Signs and Patient Information: Obtain, record, and report vital signs and other pertinent patient information to RN, LVN, or clinician.
  • Medical Procedures: Perform various medical procedures and medication administration as appropriate for certification.
  • Lab Specimens: Perform phlebotomy, process lab specimens, and maintain lab specimen logs as appropriate.
  • Documentation: Ensure proper documentation of all procedures and maintain accurate records.
  • Exam and Treatment Areas: Maintain and clean exam and treatment areas, specimen processing areas, and medical equipment.
  • Forms and Tracking: Complete or assist with the completion of appropriate forms, tracking, transport, etc.
Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma or GED.
  • Certification: Completion of a Medical Assistant program or relevant experience.
  • Certifications: BLS certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Transportation: Access to reliable transportation to travel to client or patient sites within a designated area.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience: 1+ years of experience in an ambulatory care setting or experience in the military as a Medical Assistant/EMT.
  • Electronic Medical Records: Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
  • Specialty Experience: Experience in primary care or specialty care such as pediatrics, pain management, cardiology, urology, orthopedics, oncology, senior care, OBGYN, urgent care.
  • Language Skills: Bilingual English and Spanish.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel to various OptumCare CO clinic locations as needed.
