Medical Support Specialist

This role requires efficient and accurate delivery of one-on-one patient care while thriving in a fast-paced environment. You will ensure that every patient is treated with quality clinical care and receives an excellent patient experience from welcoming, respectful, and skillful colleagues.
The Medical Support Specialist is responsible for performing Department of Transportation (DOT) and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing, preparing patients for physical examinations, and assisting providers during examination and treatment.
You will also be responsible for performing routine medical procedures as ordered by the treating clinician, triaging emergent patients as needed, and maintaining supplies, clean rooms, and equipment.
In partnership with center leadership, you will assist with patient flow and volume, keep patients informed of expected wait times during all aspects of the center visit, and ensure accuracy in documentation.
This role requires a strong understanding of medical procedures and medical terminology, as well as excellent customer service skills and the ability to deal with people in a manner that shows tact and professionalism.
As a Medical Support Specialist, you will be an integral part of our patient care team and play a crucial role in providing exceptional care to our patients.
Responsibilities:
• Perform Department of Transportation (DOT) and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing
• Prepare patients for physical examinations, including taking vital signs and any required or requested ancillary testing
• Assist providers during examination and treatment
• Perform routine medical procedures as ordered by the treating clinician
• Triage emergent patients as needed
• Maintain supplies, clean rooms, and equipment
• Assist with patient flow and volume
• Keep patients informed of expected wait times during all aspects of the center visit
• Ensure accuracy in documentation
Qualifications:
Education Level:
Vocational/Technical/Business School
Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited school (credentials in the state of employment in accordance with state requirements and applicable regulations) or Military Medical Specialist with current Medical Assistant credentials in the state of employment in accordance with state requirements and applicable regulations
Job-Related Experience
Customarily has at least six months or more of medical assistant experience
Knowledge of medical procedures and medical terminology
Working knowledge of occupational medicine requirements (state specific) preferred

Obtain all certifications required of Medical Support Specialists including but not limited to Drug Screen Collection, Breath Alcohol Certification, Hair and Oral Fluids Collection
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office such as Word, Excel, Outlook and entry of data into various systems/applications
