The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at Baylor Scott & White Health - Central Texas is a licensed and certified healthcare professional who provides direct patient care and has the authority to prescribe medications. The Advanced Practice Provider delivers medical services in accordance with the established scope of practice as defined by the supervising physician.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

  • Conducts thorough assessments of patients' physical and mental health through comprehensive examinations and medical history evaluations.
  • Orders and interprets laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures to identify patient health concerns.
  • Prescribes medications and therapeutic interventions, ensuring adherence to safety and efficacy standards.
  • Provides recommendations for lifestyle modifications to mitigate health risks.
  • Develops and implements patient-centered treatment plans based on assessments, evidence-based practices, and collaboration with healthcare teams.
  • Monitors and evaluates patient responses to treatments and adjusts care plans as necessary.
  • Educates patients and their families on medical conditions, treatment options, nutrition, and health promotion strategies.
  • Offers guidance on medication regimens, including potential side effects and interactions.
  • Keeps detailed records of patient care and treatment outcomes, initiating referrals when needed.
  • Delivers specialized consultation services related to pediatric health issues.
  • Performs specific procedures as permitted by the supervising physician.
  • May manage a panel of patients, focusing on comprehensive health management.

  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in Texas.
  • Basic Life Support certification required within the first month of employment.
  • Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is mandatory.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM; potential for 4-day workweeks.
  • Setting: Outpatient care only.
  • On-call: One week every eight weeks.
  • Preferred Experience: Previous work in a pediatric clinic.
