JOB SUMMARY

The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner - Primary Care is a licensed and certified healthcare professional who delivers direct patient care and holds delegated prescriptive authority. This role is recognized as an independent billing provider within the healthcare system, in compliance with relevant regulations. The Advanced Practice Provider offers medical services based on the established scope of practice under the supervision of a physician.

These practitioners primarily care for patients in pediatric, family medicine, or internal medicine settings.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

  • Conducts thorough assessments of patients' physical and mental health through comprehensive examinations and medical history reviews.
  • Orders and interprets laboratory tests and diagnostic evaluations to identify patient health needs.
  • Prescribes and manages medication therapies and other therapeutic interventions, ensuring adherence to safety and efficacy standards.
  • Advises on lifestyle modifications to mitigate health risks.
  • Develops and implements detailed, outcomes-focused treatment plans based on patient evaluations, evidence-based practices, and in collaboration with healthcare teams.
  • Monitors and assesses patient responses to treatments and the overall effectiveness of care provided.
  • Provides education and counseling to patients and families regarding health management, medication, nutrition, and wellness strategies.
  • Guides patients on medication regimens, including potential side effects and interactions with other substances.
  • Keeps accurate records of patient treatment plans and outcomes, facilitating timely referrals when necessary.
  • Offers specialized consultation services related to the provider's area of expertise.
  • Performs specific procedures within the scope of practice as delegated by the supervising physician.
  • May manage a patient panel in a collaborative care model, focusing on both acute and chronic health issues.

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS

  • Comprehensive knowledge of medical practices for diagnosing and treating various health conditions.
  • Understanding of methods for rehabilitation and treatment of physical and mental health issues.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in using computer systems and relevant software.

  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in Texas.
  • Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of employment.
  • Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM; potential for 4-day workweeks
  • Outpatient care only
  • On-call rotation: 1 week every 8 weeks
  • Experience in pediatric clinics preferred

QUALIFICATIONS

  • EDUCATION - Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
  • EXPERIENCE - Less than 1 year of relevant experience
