As a skilled technologist, you will independently perform diagnostic and therapeutic Neuro Interventional Radiology (IR) procedures, utilizing proper techniques and administration of contrast media. You will work under your scope of practice and in accordance with certificate/licensure in the administration of medications, operation of equipment, and venipuncture. You will coordinate patient flow and the activities of the IR department, exercising professional judgment in the performance of duties to maintain equipment in good working condition. You may also perform procedures in other imaging modalities based on departmental needs and may have on-call responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Perform Neuro IR procedures of diagnostic quality as ordered by the referring physician and/or radiologist on patients of all ages according to established protocols.

2. Obtain clinical history and data for correlation with the IR procedure.

3. Implement screening and safety measures in accordance with prescribed IR policies/procedures, performing daily and weekly QC as required.

4. Prepare and administer contrast media by injection to the patient according to policy, practicing sterile techniques.

5. Assist Radiologist in interventional radiology procedures and in performing medical treatment during emergency situations.

6. Coordinate patient care with other areas to optimize patient time and satisfaction.

7. Assess learning needs and educate patients/families regarding procedures based on individual needs, thoroughly educating patients about the exam.

8. Ensure that all records, files, and reports are properly recorded as required, performing clerical duties when necessary, verifying a signed physician order is received, and corresponding with the billed procedure.

9. Maintain knowledge of the locations and operation of all emergency equipment in the unit.

10. Follow radiation safety policies and procedures.
