Charge Nurse 2

As a Charge Nurse 2 at Charleston Area Medical Center, you will play a critical role in coordinating and participating in the operations on an assigned shift and unit. This position requires a strong clinical leader who can utilize the nursing process to manage complex patients and lead a team of nurses to deliver high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Clinical Leadership: Demonstrate expertise in the nursing process and manage more complex patients with minimal assistance. Identify personal learning needs and independently perform advanced skills.
- Staffing and Scheduling: Perform staffing functions as delegated by the nurse manager, adjusting the schedule according to census and acuity. Assess the unit workload and make assignments accordingly.
- Quality Improvement: Expand understanding of research process and its application to nursing practice. Identify opportunities for quality improvement and implement changes to enhance patient outcomes.
- Education and Training: Orient and educate new and current employees. Review documentation of education and provide feedback and assistance as needed.
- Performance Management: Complete performance management and discipline procedures as delegated by the nurse manager.
- Customer Service: Demonstrate positive and professional customer service and co-worker relations.
- Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing (Required). May substitute Formal Nursing Program for the Associate Degree.
- Experience: 2 years of nursing experience in area to be assigned.
- Credentials: Registered Nurse (Required). Basic Life Support (Required) within 30 days of hire. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Required) within 1 year of hire.
