Job Summary

Westlake Services is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Safety Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our HSE department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees, customers, and the environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the administration of Safety and Environmental programs at the Lenexa, KS Plant, including documentation, training, reporting, and audits.
  • Collaborate with the Plant Manager and HSE team to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Conduct internal and external inspections to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to enhance employee knowledge and skills in safety and environmental procedures.
  • Investigate incidents and near-misses to identify root causes and implement preventive measures.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with employees, management, and external stakeholders to promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a safety-related field or equivalent experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a safety or environmental role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software applications.
Working Conditions

The Safety Specialist will work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, with frequent exposure to noise, dust, and other hazards. The ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with employees at all levels is essential.
