Medical Laboratory Specialist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist 1 to join our team at Nuvance Health. As a Medical Technologist 1, you will be responsible for analyzing patient specimens using manual and automated scientific techniques to provide clinical information for diagnosis and treatment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform tests to analyze patient specimens according to laboratory policy and procedure.
- Maintain competency in all identified sections and perform quality control and quality assurance to ensure accurate test results.
- Interpret and enter data to prepare patient laboratory reports and communicate critical and significant results to healthcare workers.
- Maintain biomedical equipment and perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance tasks.
- Identify and resolve problems that arise and communicate effectively with staff and customers.
- Instruct new staff members, on-the-job trainees, residents, and students, and document teaching and training for accreditation purposes.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or related field.
- Zero to six months of experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
- Graduate of Medical Technology Program or previous work experience preferred.
- American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) certification preferred or eligible.
Working Conditions:
This position requires manual skills, motor coordination, and finger dexterity. Some occupational risk is involved, and the physical effort is medium to heavy, with the ability to exert up to 35 pounds of force. The physical environment includes some exposure to dirt, odors, noise, and human waste.
