Position Overview:

The Senior Medical Coding Adjustment Specialist plays a crucial role in evaluating provider feedback regarding suspected medical conditions and verifying this information against patient medical records. By leveraging electronic health record (EHR) systems and technologies, the specialist guarantees the thoroughness and precision of provider feedback, addressing all chronic health issues that affect the patient. Key responsibilities include mentoring team members, enhancing billing workflows, ensuring regulatory compliance, conducting audits, and offering suggestions for process enhancements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a mentor and resource for both new and current staff members
  • Enhance billing workflows and provide education to healthcare providers
  • Evaluate findings to improve documentation practices
  • Exhibit proficiency in healthcare operations and coding standards
  • Conduct meticulous chart reviews for Risk Adjustment coding
  • Identify patterns in provider coding and documentation practices
  • Offer constructive feedback to underperforming providers
  • Collaborate with the MRA Department and support educational initiatives
  • Deliver exceptional service to colleagues and patients alike

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a healthcare-related environment
  • Preferred 3+ years of experience in HCC Coding
  • Certification as a Procedural Coder (CPC) or CRC designation is preferred
  • Proficient in 10-key, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • Strong organizational skills with an emphasis on patient care tracking
  • Thorough understanding of compliance and coding regulations
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy
  • Capacity to work independently in a dynamic environment
