Senior Medical Coding Specialist - Remote Opportunity

Position Overview:

The Senior Medical Coding Specialist role is focused on evaluating provider responses related to suspected medical conditions and confirming their accuracy against the patient's health records. By leveraging electronic health record (EHR) systems and technologies, the specialist guarantees the thoroughness and precision of provider inputs, addressing all chronic health issues affecting the patient. Key responsibilities include mentoring new staff, enhancing billing workflows, ensuring compliance, conducting audits, and suggesting improvements to processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a mentor and resource for both new and current team members
  • Enhance billing workflows and provide education to healthcare providers
  • Assess findings to improve documentation practices
  • Exhibit expertise in healthcare operations and coding standards
  • Conduct thorough chart reviews for Risk Adjustment coding
  • Identify patterns in provider coding and documentation
  • Offer constructive feedback to underperforming providers
  • Collaborate with the MRA Department and support educational initiatives
  • Deliver exceptional service to colleagues and patients alike

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years in a healthcare-related position
  • Preferred 3+ years of experience in HCC Coding
  • Certification as a Procedural Coder (CPC) or CRC designation is advantageous
  • Proficient in 10-key, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • Strong organizational skills with an emphasis on patient care tracking
  • Solid understanding of compliance and coding regulations
  • Meticulous attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy
  • Capacity to work independently in a dynamic environment
