JOB SUMMARY
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) plays a vital role within the Emergency Services team, focusing on both direct and indirect patient care responsibilities. This position requires the EMT to work under the guidance of a licensed nurse, who will assign tasks based on the needs of patients and the EMT's competencies.
The EMT is responsible for providing care across all age groups, ensuring that each patient receives appropriate attention and support.
REQUIREMENTS
Preferred qualifications include a High School Diploma and successful completion of essential competencies within the first six months of employment, which include:
- IV Starts
- Venipuncture
- Splinting
- Bladder Catheterization (Male/Female)
- EKG Course
Experience of less than two years is acceptable, along with completion of a Certified or Geriatric Nursing Assistant course. One year of experience as a Patient Care Technician or Emergency Medical Technician is preferred. Required certifications include:
- CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant
- CPR - AHA Healthcare Provider
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
Strong initiative, motivation, and excellent communication skills are essential. The role demands exceptional customer service abilities, organizational skills, and the capacity to prioritize tasks effectively. Being an active team player is crucial for success in this position.
LifeBridge Health operates as a minimal-lift facility, which necessitates the use of appropriate equipment and techniques for patient movement and lifting, as taught through the Safe Lift program.
