The Emergency Care Technician (ECT) is a vital member of the Emergency Services team at LifeBridge Health. As a technical, multi-skilled professional, the ECT provides direct and indirect patient care activities under the supervision of a licensed nurse. This role requires strong initiative, motivation, and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical, multi-skilled patient care activities, including IV starts, venipuncture, splinting, and bladder catheterization.
- Work under the supervision of a licensed nurse to prioritize patient needs and delegate tasks accordingly.
- Develop strong relationships with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care delivery.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain and enhance core competencies.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Successful completion of the following competencies within six months of employment: IV Starts, Venipuncture, Splinting, Bladder Male/Female Catheterization, and EKG course.
- Less than 2 years of experience: Successful completion of Certified or Geriatric Nursing Assistant course required. One Year Patient Care Technician or Emergency Medical Technician experience preferred.
- CPR - AHA Healthcare Provider certification required.
- One Year Patient Care Technician or Emergency Medical Technician experience.
- Strong initiative, motivation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
