JOB SUMMARY
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) plays a crucial role within the Emergency Services team, primarily responsible for a variety of technical and multi-skilled patient care tasks, both direct and indirect.
Under the guidance of a licensed nurse, the EMT will execute delegated responsibilities based on patient requirements and their own competencies.
The EMT is expected to provide care across all age groups, ensuring a comprehensive approach to patient health.QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred High School Diploma. Successful completion of essential competencies within six months of employment as an EMT:
COMPETENCIES INCLUDE:
- IV Starts
- Venipuncture
- Splinting
- Bladder Male/Female Catheterization
- EKG course
Experience: Less than 2 years. Completion of a Certified or Geriatric Nursing Assistant course is required. One year of experience as a Patient Care Technician or Emergency Medical Technician is preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant
- CPR - AHA Healthcare Provider
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
Strong initiative, motivation, and communication skills are essential. Exceptional customer service skills are required, along with the ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively. The EMT must be a proactive team player.
