Join the Mayor's Office of Talent and Appointments (MOTA) as a Senior Budget Analyst and contribute to the development and review of policy and spending proposals as part of the Mayor's $15 billion annual budget.
About the RoleThe Senior Budget Analyst will work within the Office of Budget and Performance Management (OBPM) and report to the Deputy Budget Director. This position will cover the Operations and Infrastructure Portfolio and will be responsible for providing support to staff, conducting research on financial outcomes, and developing long-term strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in budget preparation and financial and policy analysis for the Public Safety and Justice portfolio
- Work on projects and make draft recommendations to improve the District's outcomes
- Provide analysis in an operating budget cluster and capital project proposals and monitor contracts and re-programming requests within the assigned portfolio
- Support the development and administration of the District's Capital Improvement Program
- Provide technical budget assistance to the Budget Director and City Administrator
- Work with the Office of the Chief Financial Officer during the annual budget formulation
- Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Urban Planning, Public Administration, Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field is required, but a Master's degree is preferred
- At least two years of experience with budget and finance or related work in a policy position that required writing and analysis
- Superior Excel skills/knowledge, superior PowerPoint skills, and excellent communication and presentation skills are required
- Experience using Tableau or other data visualization software is a plus
- Experience drafting public-facing communications and presentations is a plus
