Job Title: GIS and Compliance Systems Administrator

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled GIS and Compliance Systems Administrator to join our team at Basin Electric Power Cooperative. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of our GIS and Compliance systems, optimizing system performance, leading improvement projects, and delivering user support through training and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • System Administration: Support the implementation, maintenance, and updates to the GIS and compliance systems.
  • Software Support: Provide support for GIS and compliance software, addressing routine issues.
  • Data Analysis: Assist with analysis of GIS and compliance data and applications.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Assist in preparing reports and maintaining documentation for the GIS and Compliance applications.
  • System Monitoring: Assist in the continuous monitoring and proactive management of GIS and compliance systems for performance issues and identify opportunities for optimization.
  • Project Contributions: Contribute to GIS and compliance projects by completing assigned tasks.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A four-year degree in computer science, computer programming, data science, software development, information technology, computer or software engineering, or a related field; or
  • A two-year degree in computer science, computer programming, data science, software development, information technology, computer or software engineering, or a related field and 2 years of related IT experience; or
  • A high school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED) and 4 years of related IT experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Competent in application development and application lifecycles; application development; implementation of applications; Python programming language; Structured Query Language (SQL), Object-oriented programming (OOP), and relational database concepts. Good analytical, problem-solving, and IT strategic development skills. General knowledge of computer system networking and architecture. Knowledge of GIS and Compliance application standards is preferred. Knowledge of business and information technology principles and ability to review and identify technical solutions that support business IT needs. Effective communication and organizational skills. Good analytical and critical thinking skills. Basic knowledge of project management tools and software. Proficient with personal computers and Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. A valid driver's license.

Working Conditions:

This position requires frequent sitting and standing/walking; and occasional reaching below and above shoulder level, use of keyboard/computer, bending, kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds. It also requires finger dexterity and hand coordination. This position requires good hearing and vision, and the ability to speak. It also requires the ability to develop plans, procedures, and goals; present information to others; and work under stress to complete projects within deadlines. This position occasionally works in conditions of dirt and dust, fumes, chemicals, extreme heat and cold, vibration, and noise. This position may be required to operate a motor vehicle or fly in Cooperative or commercial aircraft.
