Job Title: GIS Compliance Intern
Job Summary:
This temporary position assists the GCM team with supporting the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of GIS and Compliance systems. The GIS Compliance Intern will analyze business processes, provide user support, and collaborate with IT professionals and business users to enhance the system's functionality and alignment with organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the collection, storage, and management of geospatial and compliance data.
- Provide technical support for GIS and Compliance software, troubleshooting issues, and assisting users within the IT department.
- Work closely with IT teams, GIS specialists, and compliance officers to support interdisciplinary initiatives.
- Participate in IT-related projects that require geospatial analysis or compliance review.
- Participate in system patching and upgrades of GIS and Compliance applications.
- Assist with the preparation of training materials and provide support to end-users during the roll-out of new functionalities or systems.
- Research emerging technologies in the GIS and Compliance discipline.
- Learn and apply GIS and Compliance best practices and methodologies to optimize system performance and business processes.
- Participate in meetings with business stakeholders to gather insights and provide feedback on system enhancements.
- Help develop and update training materials related to GIS applications and compliance procedures for internal use.
Requirements:
- Enrolled as a full-time student in a two-year Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline with at least one year completed; Or
- Enrolled as a full-time student in a four-year Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline with at least two years completed; Or
- Recently completed a two-year or four-year program in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- At least 18 years of age.
- A minimum of a 2.5 grade point average (GPA) is preferred.
- Able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient with personal computers and Microsoft Word and Outlook.
- A valid driver's license.
- Resume required.
Working Conditions:
This position requires frequent sitting, standing, and walking; and occasional reaching below and above shoulder level, use of keyboard/computer, bending, kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds. It also requires finger dexterity and hand coordination. It also requires the ability to develop plans, procedures and goals; present information to others; and work under stress to complete projects within deadlines. This position uses small hand tools. This position requires finger dexterity, good hearing, and color vision, the ability to perform close work, and the ability to speak. The incumbent must be able to analyze data and reports, conduct research, and implement recommendations. This position occasionally works in conditions of dirt and dust, fumes, chemicals, extreme heat and cold, vibration, and noise. This position may be required to operate a motor vehicle or fly in Cooperative or commercial aircraft.
Wage: $23 per hour
