Job Title: Classroom Assistant

Catholic Charities and Community Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Classroom Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our Early Childhood Education program, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our young students.

Job Summary:

The Classroom Assistant will provide support to our Early Childhood Teachers in planning, coordinating, and implementing student activities. This includes ensuring the classroom is safe, clean, and orderly, and providing crisis intervention as needed. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to interact effectively with children and staff, and possess a strong commitment to providing high-quality care and education.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in planning and implementing student activities, including lesson planning and preparation
  • Ensure the classroom is safe, clean, and orderly, and maintain a positive learning environment
  • Provide crisis intervention, including child abuse reporting, as needed
  • Assist in the organization and maintenance of classroom materials and equipment
  • Develop positive relationships with parents and families of each child
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Early Childhood Teacher (ECT) qualification preferred
  • Ability to interact effectively with children 6 weeks-5 years of age
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in emergency situations
  • Knowledge of child development principles and practices
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
