Key Responsibilities

Strategic Financial Assistance: Collaborate with the CFO, Controller, and relevant teams to formulate and execute suitable financial strategies for the organization.

Corporate Financial Management:

  • Conduct daily corporate accounting tasks and oversee month-end closing procedures.
  • Handle invoice processing, cash deposit recording, and necessary adjusting entries.
  • Maintain thorough documentation to substantiate transactions in the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers.

Project Management: Spearhead and support initiatives such as the New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) Program, Real Estate Development, and various LLC reconciliations.

Insurance Coordination:

  • Ensure seamless integration of Real Estate Development and organizational insurance.
  • Engage with brokers, leadership, and team members to assess coverage levels and pinpoint consolidation opportunities.

Financial Reporting: Utilize Sage Intacct to refresh recurring reports for activities including home sales, work-in-progress, cost summaries, rental operations, and compliance obligations.

Cash Flow Management:

  • Develop cash flow forecasts and projection models in collaboration with the CFO, Controller, and financial team.
  • Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of cash flow processes.

Collaboration and Communication: Partner closely with internal departments such as loan production, operations, servicing, real estate sales, and community development to ensure optimal service delivery practices.

Software Proficiency: Leverage electronic tools including Salesforce (STARS database system), Sage Intacct, Microsoft Outlook, Teams, and advanced Excel skills to enhance service delivery.

Regulatory Adherence: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and procedures.

Process Optimization: Actively seek and implement continuous improvements to elevate the overall efficiency of the finance team.

Qualifications

Essential Skills:

  • Expertise in standard accounting practices and GAAP principles.
  • Technical proficiency in understanding Homewise's nonprofit financial model and applicable accounting policies related to bank accounts, investments, loans, mortgages, real estate development, grants management, and standard accounts.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, demonstrating responsiveness to both internal and external inquiries.
  • Strong listening abilities to comprehend various perspectives and anticipate customer needs.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Adaptability to swiftly adjust to changing priorities and conditions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and other relevant software applications.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Commitment to maintaining high personal performance standards.

Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of three years of experience in finance, accounting, auditing, or a related field within a financial institution or mortgage company.
  • A Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, economics, mathematics, or a related discipline (or four years of equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree, in addition to the required work experience).

Work Environment:

  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
  • Availability for flexible working hours, including evenings or weekends, as required.
  • This position offers a hybrid work model, requiring a minimum of three days in the office alongside remote work.
