Job Overview

Position Summary

Avance Consulting is in search of an Automation Control Specialist to lead and ensure technical excellence within our automation and electrical engineering teams across the designated region in the US. This role involves the design, programming, and validation of automation systems and control panels. You will also be tasked with creating project documentation, offering technical assistance to both internal teams and clients, and overseeing internal automation resources. As part of a diverse global team, your innovative ideas will significantly contribute to our projects. This is a permanent role with opportunities for career advancement at both local and international levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Controls Team with assigned projects primarily in the Northwest region.
  • Participate in client commissioning and coordination meetings at various sites.
  • Program IPCs, HMIs, PLCs, Managed Switches, PQMs, and other related equipment.
  • Provide coordinated support to third-party commissioning agents.
  • Generate documentation in line with company and client procedures.
  • Offer technical support to clients and third-party commissioning agents.
  • Adhere to Company Standards of Conduct and all relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Travel to client locations as necessary.
  • Provide on-call support for various critical product lines.
  • Manage customer-funded or internally funded projects.
  • Produce accurate and timely reports regarding project metrics.
  • Provide technical leadership and/or management of programs.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and subcontracted personnel.

Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of Electrical Power Systems, including Generators and UPS systems.
  • Previous experience in a regulated industry.
  • Experience in SCADA application development is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Java, Python, and/or HTML is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Ubuntu and Linux is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of PC Hardware and Ethernet Networks, including industrial gateways and managed switches.
  • Experience with Ignition Software is highly desirable.
  • Systems Integration experience.
  • Development of Test Specifications.
  • Experience with Software, Factory, and Site Acceptance Testing.

Technical Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, with a focus on control systems, Computer Science, or Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • At least five (5) years of experience related to Electrical Power Monitoring Systems, Building Automation Systems, Systems Integration, and/or Energy Management Systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to efficiently execute various project functions.
  • Understanding of electrical theory and control circuits.
  • Awareness of the hazards associated with electrical energy.
  • Proficient in MS Office 365 Suite is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication interfaces, including Modbus TCP and Modbus RTU, is highly desirable.
  • Ability to produce technical documentation using PDF software such as Adobe or Bluebeam.
  • Basic understanding of ladder logic and wiring diagrams.
  • Demonstrated compliance with International Standards and Client Specifications.
