Provide support across all branches during staff shortages.
Enhance the member experience by ensuring that members receive friendly, accurate, and timely assistance when opening and modifying various account types, including certificates, IRAs, Coverdell, HSAs, etc.
Assist members with consumer loan inquiries and other miscellaneous requests, including the use of the ITM system as necessary.
Serve as a teller and receptionist as required.#LI-Onsite
Responsibilities:
Act as a representative of the credit union to members in a courteous and professional manner. Deliver prompt, efficient, and accurate service in transaction processing.
Open various consumer account types, including youth accounts, certificates, IRAs, Coverdell, HSAs, etc., and explain the different accounts and ownership options. Prepare necessary documentation and complete transactions. Gather documentation for business accounts and refer them to business account specialists.
Discuss potential loan products and services, providing basic information to members and prospective members, including loan options, rates, and terms.
If a member wishes to proceed with an application, conduct an interview with the consumer loan applicant, explain loan options, rates, terms, and collateral requirements; prepare all necessary documents; obtain employment verification and income documentation; acquire credit reports; and assess member needs while cross-selling credit union services based on insights from the credit report and member cues.
Build strong, long-term relationships with members by promoting the use of credit union services. Explain various services and their benefits.
Notify members of loan decisions, follow up on approved loans to ensure disbursement, including the closing of approved Home Equity Lines of Credit.
Maintain current knowledge of all aspects of the credit union's loan products, including origination and closing rules and regulations for Home Equity Lines of Credit.
Request Auto Valuation Model (AVM) appraisals for HELOC applications and communicate with underwriters regarding the specifics of each application.
Foster positive communication with all AFCU members, employees, and staff.Complete paperwork for loan modifications and submit for approval.
Identify and refer mortgage leads to the mortgage department.
Assist members with errors, complaints, account inquiries, card disputes, or fraudulent transactions. Issue instant cards via the Card Wizard Instant Issue system. Help resolve online banking issues.
Assist members in enrolling for direct deposit and completing internal transfer requests. Prepare the necessary forms and maintain the member's account accordingly. Forward documents to the appropriate department or employer if needed.
Actively engage in credit union marketing promotions and branch sales initiatives to meet and exceed financial center goals.
Process stop payments, research requisitions, and obtain statement copies. Provide notary services, process wire requests, redeem U.S. Savings Bonds, and handle check orders/reorders.
Maintain attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all work. Timely audits and examinations of individual work produced are required. Resolve errors promptly.
Serve as a receptionist and teller as needed. Assist members with the ITM system as required.
Perform all teller duties as necessary, including loan and credit card cash advances, daily cash drawer balancing, check cashing, issuing cashier's checks, selling VISA gift/travel money cards, balancing and submitting electronic checks, etc.
Adhere to policies and procedures related to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Customer Identification Program (CIP), and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) daily to ensure compliance with current regulations.
Assist in the opening and closing security procedures of credit union offices.
Review all internal publications including HUB and Possibilities.
Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications:
Education
High school diploma or equivalent
Achieve the Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor (CCUFC) designation by passing the CUNA Financial Counseling Certification Program (FICEP) exam
Work Experience
1-3 years of relevant experience is required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
A high level of interpersonal skills to conduct effective interviews with loan applicants and cross-sell credit union services to members.
Must demonstrate accuracy in all teller transactions, including cash handling.
Must possess typing proficiency.
A high degree of poise and tact to positively represent the credit union in all interactions.
Ability to organize and prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.
Must have reliable transportation as travel between multiple branches in one day may be necessary.
Must possess a valid, unrestricted driver's license.
Proficient in computer programs including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, IRA Service Center Software, and the internet.
Must be able to operate or be trained to operate related office equipment including calculators, cash dispense machines, laser printers, receipt printers, coin and currency counters, cash recyclers, coin scan machines, Biometric SDB Access, computer terminals (PCs), check/ID scanners, multifunction copiers, Verifone, VISA instant issue machines, and telephones.
