Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled X-Ray Technologist to join our team at UNC Health Appalachian. As a key member of our radiology department, you will be responsible for performing high-quality radiographic procedures and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Radiographic Procedures: Perform diagnostic x-ray examinations following established protocols and procedures, ensuring the correct positioning of patients to obtain optimal images.
  • Patient Care: Prepare patients for radiologic procedures by explaining the process, positioning them correctly, and shielding areas not being imaged, providing a high level of patient care and comfort during radiographic procedures.
  • Documentation and Records: Accurately document patient information and radiographic procedures in the electronic health record (EHR) system, ensuring all images are correctly labeled and stored according to department protocols.
  • Compliance and Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols and radiation protection guidelines to minimize exposure to patients and staff, following all regulatory requirements and guidelines.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care, assisting in the training and orientation of new staff and radiology students as needed.
Requirements
  • Education: Completion of an accredited radiology program.
  • Experience: Clinical radiographic and imaging experience from an AMA accredited radiologic facility.
  • Certifications: Certification as RT(R) and Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association.
Working Conditions
  • Regularly exposed to the risk of blood-borne diseases.
  • Exposed to hazards from electrical/mechanical/power equipment.
  • Exposed to unpleasant elements (accident, injury, slippery surfaces, uneven surfaces), etc.
  • Handles emergencies or crisis situations.
  • Subject to irregular hours (days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays).
