Activity Engagement Specialist

At Elderwood at Burlington, we are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Activity Leader to make a positive impact on the lives of our residents by keeping them engaged and active. Salary: $18.12 - $21.72 / hour.
Job Overview: The Activity Leader is responsible for assisting the Activities Director and implementing a program of recreational activities to meet the individual needs of residents on an assigned unit, and for leading group activities.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Director of Activities in planning and carrying out the activity program.
- Approach residents on assigned units to plan individual recreational and social activities; report to the Director of Activities about resident response and cooperation.
- Prepare resident information for use by the Director of Activities in care planning and documentation; write progress notes as assigned.
- Assist in developing and maintaining good contact with community resources for the betterment of the activities program.
- Maintain departmental inventory of equipment and supplies.
- Maintain attendance records and prepare other reports as required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 18 years of age required.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid Vermont Driver's License and clean driving record required.
- Able to develop good relationships with staff, volunteers, families, and visitors.
- Able to inspire and motivate others, create a warm and accepting climate for residents, and adapt and modify activities to meet their needs.
- Understanding of the rights and needs of residents.
- Physical stamina for constant activity required.
