Position Summary

We are currently in search of a part-time Medical Assistant to work on weekends at our clinic.

This role is integral to the VBA MDE (Veterans Benefits Administration Medical Disabilities Examinations) program, where our organization schedules Veterans at various clinical facilities and places practitioners as needed. Our facilities are strategically located in areas with significant Veteran populations, ensuring high service demand.

Essential Competencies

Reliability and punctuality are crucial. The ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team, along with strong problem-solving skills and self-motivation, is essential. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong organizational and analytical abilities, are expected. Candidates should possess strong interpersonal skills and the capacity to follow both written and verbal instructions. Independence in work with minimal supervision is also required.

Role Responsibilities

  • Conduct requested X-rays or laboratory tests
  • Coordinate with third-party services for X-ray reporting
  • Send lab samples to LabCorp or Quest for analysis
  • Administer EKGs and pulmonary function tests (PFTs)
  • Participate in training provided by the client for staff performing PFTs
  • Utilize on-site EKG manuals to ensure familiarity with equipment
  • Welcome Veterans and escort them to examination rooms
  • Notify the client of any no-show appointments
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the facility
  • Collect ancillary results from practitioners
  • Monitor and track completed and pending examinations to ensure timely submission via the Provider Portal

Work Environment

This position operates within a healthcare setting, frequently interacting with patients who may present contagious conditions.

Physical Requirements

The individual in this role may need to navigate the office environment to access files and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

Education & Experience: A college education, high school diploma, or equivalent is required. Completion of a Medical Assistant training program is mandatory. Medical Assistant certification is highly preferred, and phlebotomy certification is an advantage. A minimum of one year of experience in an outpatient medical clinic or hospital setting is required.
