Position Summary
We are seeking a part-time Medical Assistant to support our clinic operations on weekends. This role is integral to the VBA MDE (Veterans Benefits Administration Medical Disabilities Examinations) program, which involves scheduling and embedding practitioners in facilities serving a large Veteran population.
Key Competencies
Reliability and punctuality are essential. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team, possess strong problem-solving skills, and be self-motivated. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong organizational and analytical abilities, are required. Interpersonal skills and the capacity to follow instructions accurately are also crucial. The ability to work independently with minimal supervision is expected.
Role Responsibilities
- Conduct necessary X-rays and laboratory tests
- Coordinate with third-party services for X-ray reporting
- Send lab samples to designated testing facilities
- Perform EKGs and pulmonary function tests (PFTs)
- Receive training provided by the client for all staff performing PFTs
- Utilize on-site EKG manuals to ensure familiarity with equipment
- Welcome Veterans and escort them to examination rooms
- Notify the client of any no-show appointments
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the facility
- Collect ancillary results from practitioners
- Monitor and track completed and pending examinations to ensure timely submission via the Provider Portal
Work Environment
This position operates within a healthcare setting, frequently interacting with patients who may present contagious conditions.
Physical Requirements
The individual in this role must be able to navigate the office environment, accessing file cabinets and office equipment as necessary.

Qualifications
Education & Experience: A college education or high school diploma is required, along with completion of a Medical Assistant training program. Medical Assistant certification is highly preferred, and phlebotomy certification is advantageous. A minimum of one year of experience in an outpatient medical clinic or similar healthcare setting is necessary.
