Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Histology Technician Immunohistochemistry to join our team at NYU Langone Hospital-Long Island. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing routine and complicated laboratory procedures, including specimen processing and handling, testing of patient specimens, and calculating and reporting of results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform laboratory tests and procedures in accordance with established protocols and guidelines.
  • Follow approved policies and procedures for performing specific methodologies and instrument operations, and for recording and reporting results.
  • Perform and document quality control procedures, instrument preventative maintenance, function checks, and calibration.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to instrument function and control values.
  • Review patient results prior to release to the electronic medical record, and correlate final results with known patient history and previous values.
  • Communicate critical values and barriers to testing to medical staff according to protocol, and document according to laboratory policy.
  • Complete assigned proficiency and competency assessments, and maintain sufficient testing supplies in the work area.
  • Generate and review pending logs, and enter Patient Safety Intelligence (PSI) as required.
  • Participate in the training of new medical technologists and residents at the direction of seniors and lead technologists.
Requirements
  • NYS DOH Licensed as a Certified Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology from a program registered by the NYS Department of Education, or Bachelor's Degree in biology, chemistry, or physical sciences from an accredited college or university.
  • One year of experience in a clinical laboratory, or completion of an internship at a qualified institution.
  • NYS License.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ASCP Certified.
  • Excellent computer knowledge and skills.

The salary range for this role is $94,000 to $116,953.62 annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
