Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Ambulatory Care Nurse to join our team at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists in Mineola. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive care to patients, support the coordination of nursing practice and clinical policies, and participate in quality and performance improvement activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform physical examinations and diagnostic tests
  • Collect patient health history and record information in electronic health records
  • Provide information, counsel, and education to patients and families regarding test results and treatment plans
  • Administer medications, provide wound care, and perform phone and in-person patient triage
  • Assess and monitor patient responses to various treatments and procedures
  • Consult with clinical supervisors and licensed providers to determine best treatment plans for patients
  • Direct, supervise, and delegate to licensed practical nurses, medical assistants, and technicians as needed
Clinical Responsibilities
  • Support the coordination, integration, communication, implementation, and performance evaluation of nursing practice and clinical policies and procedures
  • Ensure clinical compliance with Patient Safety initiatives and reporting
  • Support key quality initiatives to impact clinical outcome measures
  • Participate in designated activities related to NYULH clinical standards and regulations of relevant outside agencies
Professional Responsibilities
  • Engage in self-assessment and participate in activities to promote own professional growth and development
  • Seek, acquire, and maintain current nursing knowledge and competence to fulfill responsibilities as FGP Ambulatory Nurse
  • Procure and apply new knowledge related to medical treatment and technology
Implementation/Provision of Care
  • Execute medical regimens as prescribed by licensed providers
Assessment

Assess patients, identify unmet patient needs, and plan comprehensive care to meet those needs in relation to the patient's illness, condition, or disability.

Communication and Message Management
  • Ensure clinical in-baskets are managed and encounters closed in a timely manner
  • Receive, document, and report critical lab values as indicated
  • Relay normal and abnormal clinical results, follow-up, and explanation to patients, as directed by provider
Health Promotion & Education
  • Identify, through case-finding and critical analysis, patient, family, and/or community deviations from health and wellbeing
  • Collect patient healthcare data systematically and continuously, using appropriate assessment techniques and instruments
  • Develop patient-centered plans of care that prescribe interventions to attain expected outcomes
Additional Position Specific Responsibilities

This role includes on-call rotation, holidays, and RN support to all REI departments, including private practice, OR/RR, and Third Party.
