This role is situated within the Finance Service of the Veterans Health Administration.

Key Responsibilities

The primary objective of this position is to execute a comprehensive range of professional accounting functions, necessitating the application of established accounting principles, theories, and practices.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Conducting daily reviews of various accounting transaction records, financial statements, and project fund balances.
  • Analyzing and evaluating maintenance records and determining necessary updates to databases.
  • Creating, updating, and refining policies and guidelines for project and fund accounting controls.
  • Applying extensive knowledge of the accounting system to manage diverse transactions.
  • Overseeing summary cost accounts to ensure the accuracy of financial data.
  • Establishing effective work methods and developing necessary documentation for task completion.
  • Collaborating with technical staff on the design of automated systems for accounting data processing.
  • Planning and executing comprehensive reviews and special studies of financial operations.
  • Preparing and analyzing internal and external financial reports.
  • Evaluating current accounting practices and recommending enhancements for operational efficiency.
  • Conducting research to confirm fund availability as required.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Full-time; Monday-Friday; 8:00am to 4:30pm

Physical Requirements: The role is primarily sedentary, though some walking, standing, and lifting of materials may be necessary.

Qualifications

Basic Requirement:

Education: A bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field with at least 24 semester hours in accounting coursework is required. (Transcripts Required)

OR,

Combination: A combination of education and experience totaling four years in accounting or a related field is acceptable.

Specialized Experience: Candidates must possess specialized experience relevant to the position, demonstrating knowledge of accounting practices and systems.
