Bonding materials and assemblies is a critical task that requires attention to detail and a strong understanding of various materials and processes. As a Bonder 1, you will be responsible for bonding a variety of dissimilar materials, including composite and metal assemblies, parts, skins, components, or structures into semi-finished or finished products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Laying out articles and cutting parts or materials to size
  • Applying liquid or solid bonding agents
  • Performing bagging and debulking processes
  • Operating autoclave, hot bonders, and ovens to complete bonding cycle
  • Controlling conditions of heat, pressure, and timing according to specifications
  • Sanding, deburring, and smoothing over areas
  • Applying sealing resins to cut or exposed edges
  • Monitoring and verifying quality of finished product
  • Completing repairs on composite, metal, or laminate bonded products
Requirements:
  • Familiarity with internal customer interfaces and quality management systems
  • Ability to follow directions and instructions
  • Knowledge of blueprints, technical manuals, and planning documents
  • Ability to work in conjunction with higher-grade mechanics to further job knowledge
  • Basic understanding of computer processes involved in daily operations
