Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Risk and Compliance Manager to join our team at the Metropolitan Government of Nashville & Davidson County. As a key member of our Office of the Treasurer, you will be responsible for assessing and monitoring various investment and non-investment risks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage daily risk management functions, including analyzing investment activities and holdings relative to legal and/or policy requirements.
  • Research and analyze investments in equity, fixed income, and alternative assets, as well as derivative assets and hedging activities.
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert for public and private investments made by the Division.
  • Monitor and analyze investment exception reports related to pre- and post-trade parameters.
  • Manage multiple projects related to investment activities and holdings based on various events.
  • Manage investment contract compliance and track fee compliance.
  • Perform risk assessments, controls testing, and gap analysis.
  • Review, update, or create desk-level procedures.
  • Direct or perform periodic testing of the Investment Policy Statements and Cash Management/Liquidity Procedures.
  • Request and review System and Organization Controls (SOC) reports and/or compliance testing by vendors and other parties.
  • Assist in the development of written policies, procedures, and correction processes.
  • Oversee and prepare presentations.
  • Attend meetings and workshops as needed.
  • Perform various supervisory duties, including assigning and monitoring work, approving leave requests, evaluating and reviewing employee performance, counseling and correcting employees as needed.
  • Interpret rules and policies as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Master of Business Administration, Master of Finance, or Master of Economics from an accredited college or university.
  • Eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in risk management and compliance, including experience with fixed income analytics, alternative investments management, and investment consultants, and experience with private equity and/or private credit markets.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional designation in compliance, risk management, and/or financial analysis, such as Certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Professional Risk Manager (PRM), or Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA).
