Job Overview

This position offers an exciting opportunity to provide general patient care and basic patient education in a correctional setting. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of a Nurse Manager and Registered Nurse-In-Charge, following medical orders from physicians and mid-level providers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Follow federal, state, jail health care, and Escambia County Board of County Commissioners policies, regulations, and guidelines
  • Participate in screening, evaluation, and care of inmates in various settings, including sick call, mental health care, chronic illness clinics, infirmary, and confinement
  • Provide treatment and medication administration as per physician and mid-level practitioner orders
  • Perform nursing tasks, including vital signs, venipuncture, and IV therapy (with phlebotomy and IV certifications)
  • Respond to emergency situations and provide appropriate nursing interventions
Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Florida or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • State of Florida LPN License
  • CPR certification at time of employment
  • Security clearance
  • Preferred qualifications include correctional nursing experience and knowledge of federal, state, and institutional standards
