Job Summary

This position is responsible for driving revenue growth through the sale of property and media assets, as well as developing and implementing the overall strategic marketing direction of the shopping center. The Director of Marketing and Business Development will be responsible for marketing and selling the assets of the mall to consumers, advertisers, marketing companies, and the surrounding business community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify, create, and sell revenue opportunities through strategic positioning of mall assets, media assets, and mall programming to achieve financial sales goals.
  • Develop and implement retailer intensification strategies, promoting platform program opportunities to retailers and securing retailer offers to enhance programming.
  • Execute national and/or regional SBV programs and initiatives at the field level, ensuring flawless execution.
  • Create annual marketing budgets, allocating expenses to support platform programming, Simon initiatives, and brand messaging to achieve center objectives.
  • Develop and execute an annual marketing plan, strategically utilizing platform programs, supporting corporate marketing objectives, and positively impacting the center's core financial objectives.
  • Coordinate shopping center visual merchandising, signage, and advertising programs.
  • Maintain effective media relations, fielding media calls and preparing responses.
  • Drive growth of social media channels, including fan base and data collection.
  • Oversee management and budget of Guest Services, including hiring and training of the Guest Services Manager and monitoring job performance.
  • Assist the Guest Services Manager in driving the center's gift card program.
  • Participate in Manager on Duty rotation, staff meetings, and other relevant management responsibilities as a critical member of the mall management team.
Requirements
  • BA or BS degree with emphasis in sales, marketing, or business.
  • 4-6 years previous experience in sales, sponsorship, strategic marketing, event management, and budgeting.
  • Knowledge of retail management, marketing, and advertising, and working knowledge of the media industry.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, selling, and negotiation skills.
  • Superior computer skills and ability to effectively communicate verbally, visually, and in writing.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules, including weekends and evenings.
  • Strong team building and coaching skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Some overnight travel required.
  • Ability to think strategically.
