Position Overview:

Under the guidance of the laboratory and revenue cycle management teams, the Laboratory Billing Coordinator is responsible for addressing and resolving coding and billing discrepancies that hinder the submission of insurance claims, as well as managing technical denials for unpaid claims. This role requires close collaboration with the Coding and Billing departments to ensure smooth operations. The coordinator is expected to perform tasks in accordance with established quality and productivity standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Oversee daily workload and evaluate the status of insurance claim submissions.
2. Address and rectify coding and billing issues to facilitate prompt claim reimbursement.
3. Stay informed about coding and billing regulations, documentation standards, and payer policies relevant to the specific specialty.
4. Provide timely and professional responses, ensuring courteous service to all stakeholders.
5. Maintain effective communication with leadership and team members.
6. Participate in ongoing quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of one year of experience in billing or patient registration
- Experience in a healthcare environment
- Familiarity with laboratory operations

Preferred:
- Certification in Billing and Coding
- Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
