The Director of Nursing Leadership and Patient Care will play a critical role in shaping the future of nursing at NYC Health + Hospitals.
Purpose and ResponsibilitiesThis position oversees the planning, organization, direction, coordination, and evaluation of quality patient care rendered in the Obstetrical Service (Labor and Deliver and Mother-Baby Units).
- Coordinates patient care by collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
- Conducts risk assessments to prevent adverse events.
- Ensures safety management issues are addressed promptly.
- Attends regular meetings and conducts staff meetings to share information.
- Provides exceptional care and services to patients' families.
- Conducts environmental rounds to ensure Infection Control and Safety Policies compliance.
- Serves as a coach, resource, and change agent promoting evidenced-based nursing practices.
- Assists in scheduling nursing personnel to ensure adequate staffing levels.
- Recommends personnel actions such as hiring, transfer, termination, and corrective action.
- Participates in simulation programs to enhance staff knowledge and clinical skills.
This leadership role requires a strong understanding of nursing standards, regulations, and research.
RequirementsTo be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- Licensed and currently registered to practice as a professional nurse in New York State.
- A Master's Degree in Nursing Administration, Education, or Clinical Specialty, or equivalent experience.
- Five years of satisfactory nursing experience, including three years in a supervisory or teaching capacity.
