BCNY Harriman Base Camp is a premier summer camp facility located in Southfield, New York, NY. We offer a unique opportunity for individuals to develop their leadership skills and make a positive impact on the lives of our campers.

The Associate Camp Director plays a crucial role in ensuring the success of our summer programs, working closely with the Camp Director to manage the overall operation of the camp. This includes developing and implementing program strategies, supervising staff, and maintaining a safe and healthy environment for our campers.

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic individual who shares our commitment to empowering boys and young men through effective programs and a supportive community. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in youth development, excellent communication and leadership skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Safety and Risk Management: Develop and implement safety guidelines to ensure compliance with New York State and local health and safety codes. Identify and mitigate risks, ensuring proper safety precautions are in place, and provide recommendations to the Camp Director.
  • Program Development and Implementation: Collaborate with the Camp Director to design and deliver engaging programs that meet the needs of our campers, including outreach, curriculum, programming, and scheduling.
  • Staff Supervision and Training: Supervise and train summer staff, providing guidance on best practices, evaluating performance, and promoting professional growth.
  • Camper Care and Support: Prioritize the mental and physical well-being of campers, responding to emergencies, and providing support and guidance as needed.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field (e.g., education, recreation, or youth development)
  • Three years of experience in supervision of youth summer camp or recreational activities
  • Wilderness First-Aid and CPR/AED certifications; Food Handling or Safe Serve certifications
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills
  • Demonstrated positive track record in community building and youth engagement

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment with varied terrain and weather conditions
  • Capacity to lift 40-50 pounds and assist campers as needed

Estimated Salary: $75,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. We offer a competitive compensation package, including benefits and opportunities for professional growth and development.
