About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced academic professional to join our team as a First-Year Experience Director. In this role, you will play a key part in enhancing the transition and success of first-year students at Finger Lakes Community College.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Faculty Development: Provide guidance and support to faculty members on classroom management and educational planning strategies. Deliver professional development programs on first-year experience pedagogy to enhance their teaching practices.
  2. Community Engagement: Facilitate communities of practice to foster collaboration among stakeholders and promote effective communication. Coordinate practical applications of transition pedagogies and develop support systems for first-year students.
  3. Liaison Work: Collaborate with departments and stakeholders to ensure alignment of first-year experience improvement efforts. Influence the development of integrated systems to support student success.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Sociology, Student Development, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum two years' experience in student support and academic advisement in a higher education setting.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Salary Information: The salary range is $52,874 to $59,094, commensurate with qualifications, offering a competitive compensation package that includes flexible work arrangements, NYS retirement, comprehensive health insurance, and tuition benefits.
