Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Youth & Family Engagement Specialist to join our team at Children's Home of Jefferson County. As a key member of our staff, you will provide critical support and guidance to youth and their families, helping them navigate challenging situations and achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide supervision, support, and guidance to youth in our CFTSS program, promoting healthy relationships and coping skills.
  • Teach youth to achieve functional and clinical goals, including proper social behavior, education, and relationships.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with local schools, partner agencies, and community organizations to ensure comprehensive support for youth and families.
  • Represent the agency as a liaison with various service providers and resource agencies, promoting collaboration and coordination.
  • Attend meetings and training programs, staying up-to-date on best practices and industry developments.
  • Enforce agency rules, policies, and procedures, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all.
  • Complete necessary documentation accurately and on time, maintaining clear and concise records.
  • Utilize Therapeutic Crisis Intervention techniques to help youth work through difficult situations, promoting positive outcomes and relationships.
  • Interact with youth using positive role modeling, fostering a sense of trust and respect.
  • React to change productively, handling duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Maintain professional boundaries with all clients and families, ensuring confidentiality and respect.
  • Participate in individual Treatment Team meetings, contributing to comprehensive care planning.
  • Facilitate supported visitation between youth and families, promoting healthy relationships and communication.
  • Identify and implement individualized activities to help youth achieve their goals, promoting personal growth and development.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in the Social Sciences or related field.
  • Two years of experience with mental health or children's mental and behavioral health and addictions required.
  • Prior experience working with youth-at-risk or related youth work preferred.
  • Valid NYS driver's license and ability to drive legally required.
Work Environment

This position requires occasional travel to recruitment events, local schools, community settings, conferences, and meetings. May have contact with service recipients who are agitated or in crisis. Works in an office setting with a controlled temperature environment.

Equipment

This position requires a working knowledge of related office equipment, including personal computers, printers, audio-visual equipment, telephone systems, copiers, and fax machines.

Physical Demands

This position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, carry, push/pull, climb, bend, and stoop. Must be able to perform fine motor skills, read, and type. Must be able to sit for long periods of time.

Travel

Travel is required throughout the service area, including Jefferson, Lewis, Oswego, and St. Lawrence County.

Salary

Starting at $19.51 per hour.
