Position Summary:

The English Language Instructor is tasked with enhancing students' proficiency in English through various modalities including reading, writing, speaking, and listening. This role involves planning, developing, and delivering tailored instruction to small groups of students, while upholding the school's mission to provide a world-class educational experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a curriculum aligned with New York State English as a Second Language standards and English Language Arts standards.
  • Implement differentiated instruction in English Language Arts through in-class support.
  • Conduct small group ESL instruction in a pull-out setting.
  • Create lesson plans and supplementary educational materials.
  • Utilize technology consistently to enhance learning experiences.
  • Provide engaging and relevant learning activities that encourage student participation, assign homework, and conduct regular assessments to track student progress.
  • Deliver high-quality instruction that prepares students for the NYSESLAT.
  • Design a curriculum that challenges students and promotes comprehensive language development.
  • Encourage problem-solving, critical thinking, and other interactive activities that enhance the learning experience.
  • Facilitate a learning environment that promotes self-directed learning among all students.

Compensation Transparency: The salary range for this position is $62,500 - $95,000. The offered base pay may vary within this range based on factors such as education, relevant experience, skills, and location.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 2-3 years of teaching experience in public, private, or charter school settings, or a similar environment.
  • Expertise in preparing students for the NYSESLAT.
  • Bachelor's degree in English from an accredited institution; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Valid New York State ESL Teacher Certification.
