Position Title: Print Production Specialist II

Classification: Hourly, Non-exempt

Department: Print Production

Supervisor: Print and Bindery Manager


Objective: The primary responsibility of this role is to operate both continuous and sheet-fed print production machinery. The print production environment includes a variety of printing technologies such as inkjet, laser, color, monochrome, and MICR presses. A thorough understanding of operational procedures, best practices, and equipment functionalities is essential to ensure adherence to client quality and branding standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures for Print Production.
  • Follow the production timeline established by the Manager.
  • Operate all Digital Laser Print machines, ensuring quality output and maintaining high production standards while conducting quality control on work performed during your shift.
  • Perform routine maintenance on printing equipment, coordinate service calls with maintenance personnel when machines are inoperative, and consult with the Manager regarding after-hours maintenance needs. Enhance your knowledge of machine upkeep by learning from service providers about minor repairs to minimize downtime, and keep records of machine malfunctions.
  • Conduct daily maintenance to ensure color fidelity.
  • Manage production inventory by retrieving stock from storage and organizing surplus for re-inventory, adhering to proper warehouse protocols.
  • Complete and comprehend all relevant documentation, ensuring meticulous attention to detail, and verify that all jobs are accompanied by the necessary paperwork upon leaving the Print Production area during your shift.
  • Effectively utilize and familiarize yourself with the required software for fulfilling job responsibilities.
  • Maintain cleanliness in your designated workspace.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization throughout the department.
  • Assist in training new staff as required.
  • Capable of setting up and operating inline quality inspection cameras and perforating systems.
  • Perform any additional tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Performance Evaluation: Feedback on performance will be provided both verbally and in writing on a daily basis as necessary, with recognition during monthly employee acknowledgment meetings. Formal training on updates to Standard Operating Procedures will occur as needed, accompanied by an annual review conducted by the Print and Bindery Manager.


Qualifications:

A high school diploma or GED is required, along with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience or training.

Language and Mathematical Skills:

Ability to read and understand simple instructions, brief correspondence, and memos. Capable of writing straightforward correspondence. Proficient in presenting information effectively in one-on-one and small group settings to other employees within the organization.


Physical Requirements:

This position involves frequent standing or walking, and may require climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The role often necessitates lifting up to 40 lbs, and occasionally up to 70 lbs. The use of hands for handling or feeling is essential, along with reaching with hands and arms. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to focus.


Work Environment:

Work is conducted near moving mechanical components, with exposure to fumes and airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, and contact with hazardous chemicals. The noise level in the environment ranges from moderate to loud.
