Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Physician Assistant to join our Emergency Medicine team at Johns Hopkins University. As a Nocturnist, you will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to provide high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive and accurate histories and physicals, including chief complaint, presenting signs and symptoms, and past medical history and interval history.
- Recognize differences between normal and abnormal findings in H & P and validate or discuss with a physician as appropriate.
- Order and interpret laboratory tests, x-rays, diets, physical therapy, inhalation therapy, or other services when delegated by a supervising physician.
- Initiate IV therapy by peripheral, central, intraosseous routes, and venous cutdown, and perform injections, arterial puncture, venipuncture, and arterial line insertion.
- Initiate Basic/Advanced life support in response to emergency situations.
- Prepare chart documentation for review and counter signature by the physician.
- Determine differential diagnosis.
- Maintain technical proficiency with approved procedures, including suturing, wound care, and orthopedic care.
- Prescribe and regulate medications.
- Evaluate outcomes of previously implemented interventions.
- Arrange consultations and referrals when needed.
- Attend staff meetings to discuss patient and unit requirements.
- Give input for design of research protocols and procedures.
- Responsible for the conduct of EM sponsored clinical trials, including regulatory issues, recruitment, and good clinical practice.
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Certification by the NCCPA or similar national certifying body.
- Completion of a CAAHEP certified Physician Assistant program.
- Must be licensed as PA in State of Maryland or other state where practicing.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in related clinical area and obtained proficiency in area of specialty.
- Residency or fellowship programs in area of specialization may substitute for some experience.
- Five years related experience.
- Experience in Emergency Medicine.
This is a part-time position with 19 weekly hours, working Monday through Sunday, 10-hour shifts. The schedule may vary based on the needs of the department.
What We OfferJohns Hopkins University offers a competitive salary range of $115,000 - $151,400, pro-rated based on part-time schedule. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
