Position Available:
Join the skilled Pharmacy team at Central City Concern as a Flexible Pharmacy Support Specialist.

Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 5:30pm

Reporting To:
Pharmacy Operations Manager
Note: Flexible employees must engage in work at least once every six months to maintain active payroll status.

ROLE OVERVIEW:

The Pharmacy Support Specialist offers essential technical assistance to Pharmacists in managing prescription processing and maintaining the Pharmacy Department's operations.

This role may include training new personnel as required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Execute all necessary tasks to guarantee the safe and precise preparation of medications, which includes collecting vital patient information, entering it into the system, measuring or dispensing medications, and labeling containers.

Utilize dispensing systems and electronic medical records efficiently. Provide outstanding customer service by addressing phone inquiries and refill requests from patients, as well as responding to questions from staff and patients that do not necessitate a Pharmacist's professional judgment.

Ensure billing and insurance accuracy by conducting online billing procedures, contacting third-party insurers for payment clarifications, and assisting in the preparation of prior authorization requests.

Foster and continuously enhance a positive work environment. Maintain a constructive attitude towards colleagues and patients alike.

Communicate effectively with all staff members, including but not limited to other technicians, the Technician Operations Manager, Pharmacy Operations Manager/PIC, Director of Pharmacy, and other clinic personnel regarding current projects, workflow improvement strategies, and overall pharmacy systems management.

Carry out the technician operations of the Pharmacy in a cost-effective manner, which includes monitoring inventory and pricing, supporting daily operations, and ensuring sufficient resources are available to meet customer needs.

Collaborate with the Pharmacist(s) and technicians at the clinic to establish and achieve departmental goals and objectives.

Oversee at least one of the pharmacy's prescription filling services, as assigned, which may include appointment-based services, bubble packing, and Parata, or participate in maintaining and enhancing pharmacy systems such as inventory control, workflow, and auditing processes.

Comply with all state and federal privacy regulations, including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2, as well as CCC policies and agreements regarding confidentiality, privacy, and security.

Support adherence to all privacy and security requirements as per community partners' and external providers' patient confidentiality agreements, including privacy and security requirements for EMR access.

This entails promptly reporting any breaches of protected health information or personal identification information of any individual receiving CCC services by CCC or an external provider to the CCC Compliance Department, as well as to your supervisor or their designee.

Attend all mandatory CCC training sessions in a timely manner.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities If Driving:
Prepare and manage the delivery schedule and patient caseload, navigating driving routes, adjusting to traffic while ensuring timely deliveries. Address any potential issues or concerns during the delivery process, escalating to the appropriate personnel when necessary.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to consider the impacts and outcomes for underserved communities during decision-making processes.
Ability to recognize the effects of systems of oppression, structural racism, and individual bias on client outcomes.
Familiarity with pharmacy operations.
Knowledge of medical terminology, various insurance plans, and formularies.
Basic understanding of algebra and general chemistry principles.
Proficiency in modern office procedures and methods, including computer systems.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Understanding of record-keeping and reporting principles and procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Must be able to work within an integrated, multidisciplinary environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED)
To be considered for the role of Flexible Pharmacy Support Specialist, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:

Required:
High school diploma or GED

Required:
Current license with the Oregon State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician prior to commencement.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess current CPR certification prior to commencement.
Must meet CCC privileging requirements as mandated by FTCA.
Must adhere to CCC policies and procedures.
Must pass pre-employment drug screening, TB test, and DHS background check. A valid driver's license is preferred.

If driving is required, candidates must pass a DMV background check and be designated an "acceptable" driver as outlined in Central City Concern's Fleet Safety Policy.

If driving is required, candidates must complete initial driver training within 60 days of being an approved driver and continue with recertification training.
