Job Summary:

The Cash Room Assistant plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient operation of the Cash Room at Restaurant Depot. This position requires a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, as well as excellent communication and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Service: Provide friendly, efficient, and professional customer service to Restaurant Depot customers.
  • Cash Handling: Maintain accurate records of cash room-related transactions, including safe counts, toll vouchers, coupons, returned checks, coin orders, petty cash, IOUs, and key inventory.
  • Record Keeping: Ensure each business day is properly closed and balanced, and maintain records of discrepancies and issues corrective consultations for discrepancies above policy tolerance.
  • Armored Car Pick-ups: Follow proper procedure for armored car pick-ups.
  • Software Data Entry: Enter data such as returned check fees into proprietary software.
  • Bank Review: Review bank website on a daily basis to review bad checks and debits (cash or check shortages).
  • Employee Support: Cash out cashiers at the end of each shift, maintain records of discrepancies, and issue corrective consultations for discrepancies above policy tolerance.
  • Break Sheets: Maintain employee break sheets.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Perform other work-related duties as required and assigned.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years similar experience.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, employees, and customers.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and proportions.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to company values and strong customer orientation.

Work Environment:

  • The work is performed sitting, standing, and walking – must be able to sit, stand, or walk for up to 4 hours without a break.
  • The pace is job-set, meaning the pace varies depending on the customers' activities.
  • There will be industrial vehicles (forklifts, Hilo) moving material throughout the warehouse.
