Position Overview:
The Safety and Security Specialist is responsible for general security operations aimed at protecting individuals and property. This role involves enforcing organizational policies, standards, and regulations while assisting local law enforcement in compliance with applicable laws.
Key Responsibilities:
- Effectively communicate through various channels including two-way radio, computer, email, and verbal interactions with team members, visitors, and local law enforcement.
- Keep leadership informed and participate in meetings and training to foster personal and professional development.
- Maintain and care for departmental equipment and supplies.
- Conduct investigations, prepare incident reports, and document patient interventions and use of force incidents with thorough narratives.
- Secure and manage weapons until they are returned to their owners, and provide daily activity logs at the end of each shift.
- Monitor the behavior of visitors, confront unauthorized individuals, and report safety concerns, fire hazards, and security breaches through regular patrols.
- Control traffic flow and enforce parking regulations, ensuring safety in parking areas, issuing citations for violations, and initiating towing when necessary.
- Respond promptly to emergency codes and assist in managing individuals with behavioral challenges, providing backup for law enforcement as needed.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of emergency codes and response protocols, responding effectively to all emergency situations and activated security alarms.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Additional Information:
Successful candidates will be required to obtain certifications in Non-Crisis Intervention (NCI), Basic Life Support (BLS), and First Aid, along with training for the use of specific security equipment. Comprehensive training and evaluation will be provided.
Qualifications:
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent; current driver's license; ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs as needed; physical capability to stand, walk, stoop, and bend for the duration of the shift; ability to respond quickly in emergencies.
- Preferred: Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or military service.
