Job Summary

As a Patient Access Representative II at Memorial Hermann Health System, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our healthcare facilities. Your primary responsibility will be to schedule patient appointments, verify medical necessity, and collect demographic and insurance information. You will also be responsible for explaining forms to patients, obtaining necessary signatures, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Scheduling and Coordination: Schedule patient appointments, enter required information into the computer system, and ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks.
  • Medical Necessity and Compliance: Verify medical necessity, review compliance systems, and communicate information to patients or guarantors.
  • Financial Integrity: Collect patient liability, establish payment arrangements, discuss payment options, and screen for eligibility.
  • Insurance and Benefits: Verify insurance eligibility and benefits, ensure notifications and authorizations are completed within required timeframes, and post payments in the computer system.
  • Communication and Documentation: Communicate effectively with physicians, ancillary departments, nursing units, and other stakeholders, and complete thorough and accurate documentation.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Licenses/Certifications: None required
  • Experience: Two years of experience in a hospital or customer service setting
  • Skills: Ability to multi-task, proficient typing/keyboarding skills, and excellent communication and documentation skills
