Job Summary

The ASPCA Animal Hospital is seeking a skilled Veterinary Nurse Assistant to join our team. As a Veterinary Nurse Assistant, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our veterinary medical team.

Responsibilities
  • Provide compassionate and quality patient care at all times, utilizing Fear Free Guidelines.
  • Assist with nursing care, including venipuncture, catheter placement, intubation, anesthesia monitoring, diagnostic imaging, critical care, pharmacology, and dentistry.
  • Collaborate with the veterinary medical team to provide high-quality, practical veterinary care and deliver skilled, efficient, and compassionate treatment to outpatients and hospitalized patients.
  • Support the Animal Recovery Center as needed.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to clients, members of the public, and co-workers.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to maintain a safe and compassionate environment for animals in our care, our staff, and for our clients.
Requirements
  • Completion of the Fear Free 8 module course or willingness to complete within 60 days of hire/promotion.
  • Knowledge of shelter medicine and operations.
  • Knowledge of veterinary hospital protocols and procedures.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work standing for 10 or more hours.
  • Basic to advanced computer skills, including Excel, Microsoft Office, and ImproMed.
