Job Summary:
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate individual to provide exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families. As a Patient Care Associate, you will work closely with our interdisciplinary healthcare team to deliver high-quality care and promote a safe and compassionate patient care environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the implementation of patient care plans under the direction of a registered nurse.
- Provide physical care to patients, including bed baths, toileting, grooming, and changing bed linen, as per established guidelines.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and blood glucose levels, as per established guidelines.
- Prepare patients for meals and assist with feeding, as needed.
- Document patient care in a timely and accurate manner, adhering to established standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized patient environment, including the disposal of waste and linen.
- Obtain and label specimens, as per established procedures.
- Provide education and training to new nursing assistants, as needed.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Recent experience and/or training in clinical patient care.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Basic skills in math and computer science.
- Healthcare Provider CPR certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Enrollment in a nursing, pre-med, or physician assistant undergraduate program, with a minimum of one semester of completed patient care rotations.
- Possession of a valid license, certification, or enrollment as a student in a nursing assistant, medical assistant, mental health technician, or EMT-accredited program.
Work Environment:
This role requires working in a fast-paced healthcare environment, with frequent exposure to bloodborne pathogens, infectious diseases, and hazardous materials. The successful candidate must be able to lift, carry, and push/pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and stand for long periods. A high level of physical activity is required, including walking, standing, and bending.
