Voltguard Utilities Limited is in search of a dedicated and skilled Field Service Technician. This role is pivotal in delivering extensive on-site technical assistance, maintenance, and training services at various client sites, both indoors and outdoors. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to operate autonomously while providing exceptional service that meets project goals and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Site Travel and Service Delivery:
- Travel to various customer, vendor, and supplier locations, encompassing both indoor and outdoor environments.
- Provide field service support at client sites within the assigned territory, with frequent travel across the United States as required.
- Ensure prompt and effective responses to service requests, managing workloads to adhere to service timelines. - Technical Training:
- Conduct thorough on-site technical training for clients regarding the operation, repair, and upkeep of our products and solutions.
- Instruct clients on best practices, safety protocols, and regular maintenance schedules to enhance equipment reliability. - Collaboration with Engineering Teams:
- Collaborate closely with internal engineering teams, technicians, and third-party vendors to troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges.
- Engage in joint efforts to enhance system performance and identify potential improvements. - Preventative Maintenance and Repairs:
- Execute scheduled preventive maintenance tasks to ensure consistent equipment functionality and minimize unplanned downtimes.
- Assess and adjust equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and client production timelines. - Departmental Representation and Project Oversight:
- Act as a representative of the Technical Department in inter-departmental meetings, sharing insights and updates on service operations, client requirements, and ongoing projects.
- Monitor project developments, ensuring compliance with project timelines, budgets, and client expectations.
- Independently carry out technical and engineering tasks, upholding high-quality standards and adherence to project objectives. - Travel Requirements:
- Undertake short-term travel assignments as necessary, with up to 40% domestic and international travel.
- Visit multiple locations to support project development, installation, and commissioning. - Troubleshooting:
- Identify and resolve system/equipment interface issues during installations using relevant diagrams and tools. - Documentation:
- Ensure all necessary documentation is accurate and complete for tasks performed, and that all systems are updated to reflect the current status against the daily work plan.
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Field Service Technician, preferably within the utilities, energy, or electrical engineering sectors.
- Strong technical skills in troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of electrical and mechanical systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying technical information to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating effective time management and problem-solving capabilities.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel regularly, sometimes on short notice.
Preferred Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience in providing technical training and customer support.
- Familiarity with industry safety standards and compliance requirements.
Additional Information:
- This role necessitates daily commuting to and from client locations, with a focus on delivering responsive and reliable service.
- The position offers opportunities for professional development and career advancement, with exposure to diverse project environments.
- This position requires working 90% of the time in the field, primarily involving short trips (2 to 4 days during the week). Only twice a year may extended travel for 3 weeks be required.
