Position Overview:
The Coffee Shop Operations Leader is responsible for guiding the team to provide an outstanding coffee experience while ensuring the highest standards of hospitality and warmth for every visitor in our café. This role encompasses overseeing operations, enhancing customer and employee experiences, and delivering exceptional coffee beverages along with coffee expertise.

  • Preferably have experience overseeing a profitable and operationally efficient café or restaurant.
  • Must hold a valid state-issued food management license.
  • Skilled in recruiting, hiring, and managing staff.
  • Capable of delivering high-quality customer service.
  • Proven ability to comprehend and execute an organization’s objectives.

  • Familiarity with POS systems (e.g., Toast, Square), Google Suite, and other computer applications.
  • Minimum educational requirement: high school diploma or GED.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Listen attentively and respond to guest inquiries.
  • Prepare and serve a variety of beverages, from standard to specialty orders.

  • Establish a culture of hiring, training, developing, and retaining employees at all levels.
  • Ensure every coffee experience is exceptional and uphold this standard across the team.
  • Continuously enhance personal and team coffee knowledge and share insights with guests.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership qualities and professional maturity.
  • Inspire and cultivate a positive internal environment.
  • Engage regularly with the team, providing constructive feedback and conducting quarterly meetings.
  • Develop timely and comprehensive schedules that consider both business and employee needs.
  • Accurately complete payroll and submit it within designated timeframes.
  • Model exemplary hospitality and proactively resolve customer concerns, always seeking ways to enhance the guest experience.
  • Monitor, coach, and motivate team members to exceed guest expectations through effective execution of operations, processes, recipes, and knowledge.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of all products, including coffee and tea offerings, kitchen ingredients, retail items, and menus.
  • Conduct required inventories and accurate ordering to support business growth.
  • Manage the café’s financial performance and costs, ensuring precise cash controls and product ordering.
  • Review weekly and monthly profit and loss statements.
  • Relentlessly seek opportunities to drive sales and attract new guests, monitoring key performance indicators and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain all equipment, contacting service providers as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in team leadership.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to stand for extended periods.
  • Capable of performing repetitive motions with hands, wrists, and forearms to operate espresso machinery.
  • Ability to detect and perceive the aroma of coffee.
  • Frequent communication with customers.
  • Ability to lift weights up to 50 pounds occasionally.
